Discrimination in Cartoons

Journal Entry: Fri Jan 23, 2015, 8:12 AM

Discrimination.

We've all known the meaning of the word, and we all saw it in action. In the cartoon world, that saying's true, especially towards female characters.

I know what you're thinking. "It's JUST a CARTOON! Get over it!" No, let me explain. True, it's a cartoon, BUT I personally feel that today's cartoons are being discriminate to different characters, with females being the top on the list.

In my personal opinion, the female cartoon characters are, instead of being seen as the role model, the heroic or someone we can understand, they are treated as though they are nothing but comic relief with no understanding at all.

Examples:

Kitty Katswell: The first seasons she was seen and treated as a well respected secret agent. Today, she's nothing but a comic relief in which she gets hurt in different ways like crushed, splattered, exploded, etc.

Meg Griffin: She appears to be a normal teen girl, but instead of her getting any love from her family, she's treated like shit under the shoes of society, getting the worse treatments of both pyshical and emotional abuse, not just from school mates and other people, but her so called family as well! The only people who actually seem to care at times are Brian and Peter Griffin, although they don't show it in public for reasons unknown.

Sally Acorn: I don't get why everyone would hate her so much! She's intelligent, strong, compassionate about her people...Now she gets hated JUST because the past comic writers make her into a Mary Sue! It's NOT Sally's fault, it's the writers! So get it right!!

Lola Bunny: She's a tomboy whose an athlete with an intelligent mind, but in the recent Looney Tunes Show, she's made as a stereotypical "Blonde haired bimbo with no common sense whatsoever!" I HATE that!! What ever happened to the Lola Bunny we all know, who DOESN'T let others treat her like some eye candy and such?

Disney Princesses and Heroines: They're loved because of the things they did for thier friends, family and people, yet they get treated as if women SHOULD be the Damsel in Distress roles! NOT!!

Carmelita Fox and Penelope: Now these are my fave characters from the Sly Cooper Games. Unfortunately, ever since Sanzaru created Sly Thieves in Time, they bascially changed said characters for the WORSE!

Look at Carmelita, a well respected person of the police force, she used to wear a simple attire made for chasing and busting criminals. But her recent attire? She looks like she's ready to go to a one of those stripper buildings, or become a prostitute or hooker! If I remember correctly, all female cops and officers wore APPROPRIATE uniforms when they're on patrol! They wear skirts during formal events, but that's it!
As for Penelope, instead of her becoming an ally like I hoped, they turned her into a villain. A VILLAIN!! Reason? "Sly's using Bentley, blah, blah, blah!" Then she does this and that just so she can get rich by creating weapons. Uh....No? Because in Sly 3, she was happy to be with Bentley and help the Cooper Gang out, NOTHING ELSE! But noooo.... The Sanzaru HAD to screw up a perfectly great character and make her as "Another stereotypical female villain who uses brains for crims instead of good!" They could at ELAST have a better reason for this...Like if Penelope has an evil twin sister who kidnapped her and took her place, or an alternate universe Penelope who switched places with the real Penelope. People at Sanzaru, get your acts together and do a BETTER job at the next game if you wanna redeem yourselves! PLEASE!!

Even OCs have recieved this treatment!

None of us likes it when we're discriminated, so why pull the same thing on cartoon characters? What're we teaching the children and teens of today? That it's okay to hate and hurt others for different reasons?

Ottatiel by CooperGal24
Ottatiel
My dream pet for the Hero Challenge.

It's an Ottatiel. Part sea otter, part cockatiel. The species can both swim in the water and fly in the air. The webbed toes help the Ottatiel to swim faster in the water, and it's water-proof fur and feathers keep it's body from getting too wet. They can dive into the ocean floor to pick up scallops, clams and urchins to snack on, but also like to eat fruits and seeds. Like parrots, the Ottatiel can mimic any sounds they hear, from a human's voice or other animals.

The Ottatiel has the colorings of a sea otter as it's main color, but come in a variety of different colors and types like the cockatiel.

So one of my DA Friends name :iconbreakoutkid: loves WWE, and his fave wrestlers are Bryan Danielson and CM Punk as Daniel Byrock and C.M. Punkstone in the upcoming Flintstones and WWE: Stoneage Smackdown!

Ironically enough, one of my old fave wrestlers, The Undertaker, is also in the movie, and Hulk Hogan will be in the sequel to the Scooby Doo WrestleMania movie in 2016!

Enjoy, because I only found said wrestlers in the trailer and DVD cover!
