Mourning at Dawn

A pic I did based on the Sam and Max Season 3 ending, only my version.

After being told that Max wouldn't be brought back with the cloning machine, due to the DNA being "Too weird", Sam and Jackie walked out of the Lab in silence as Mama Bosco, Flint Paper and the others watched. The two Freelance Cops, grief stricken, made their way to the edge of the city as the first rays of dawn's light touches the vast New York City buildings. The two finally arrived at the edge of the city before they looked out at the wide open waters, as they both saw the headless Statue of Liberty, decapitated from the Monster Max's rampage before the first week of the city's sleepless nightmare.

His heart broken from the loss of his little buddy, Sam straightened up, took off his hat and held it against his heart, as he bid a final farewell to Max. His thoughts were interrupted when he felt a gentle touch on his arm before he looked over and saw Jackie, as she looked at him with tears trickling down her face. The look of sadness on his love's face brought tears to Sam's eyes, before he placed his hat back on and held her hands.

"Jackie...Promise me something..." He said, breaking the silence since they left the lab.

"Yes, Sam...?" Jackie replied.

Sam gave her hands a gentle squeeze before he wrapped his arms around Jackie and pulled her into a gentle tight, but loving hug, not daring to let her go.

"Do-don't ever leave me..." Sam said, as he shut his eyes that stung with hot tears of remorse and sadness.

The cat lady blinked a bit before she wrapped her arms around Sam and held him close with a nod.

"...I promise..." She said.

It was like that for what seemed like forever, but was actually a few minutes of silence as both Sam and Jackie were locked in a hug, mourning in the light of dawn...Never knowing about a visit from a certain past lagamorph.<br / />

Sooo...That's pretty much it for the story. But I'm proud of the pic! Took me a couple days to do, but it was worth it! Painted in watercolors, washable markers (used like paint, diluted in water.), sharpie pen, coloring pencils and correction pen. Like I said, I'm proud of what I did here! Enjoy! ^^
